What We’ve Been Playing: 20/06/10

Haven’t done one of these in a couple of weeks so you’d think I’d have tons to tell you about, I don’t. I finished Red Dead Redemption, that was fun, great story! I also played a little bit of Joe Danger and Planet Minigolf, two great games from the PlayStation Store. I have revisited Virtua Tennis 2009 also as I wanted to play with some balls, erm, I mean play tennis. Very good game and I recommend picking it up if you haven’t got it already.

Surprise surprise, there have been other games that aren’t just MW2 I’ve played this week. With Gabe revealing Portal 2 at E3, I was uber excited, and with Portal: Still Alive on the Marketplace at a reduced price of 800 points (I know it was free on Steam, I just have no computer good enough to run it) I’ve been re immersing myself in it’s glorious world. Another on the store was the brilliant Castle Crashers, which I picked up for 800 points also. It’s great fun, but a lot of it hurt my thumbs from all the button mashing. Finally, I got a little bit of time to earn a few trophies in Battlefield Bad Company 2′s story mode. It’s still utter balls but a majority of the game play is solid.

Although perpetually shouting at the touch screen due to it’s general awkwardness, I’ve been spending most of my time with my iPod Touch recently. I’ve got most of the stars on Angry Birds, I’m continuing to play the addictive Doodle Jump, and I have also just bought FIFA World Cup, and for 59p it really isn’t bad. As far as home console gaming is concerned, I am still slowly trudging through Red Dead Redemption, which I can’t see myself finishing for a long time to come.

Well, let’s see now, Alpha Protocol was taking up most of my time.  It’s both intriguing and a solid game given all its faults.  Other than that, a little bit of Tales of Monkey Island and some XMO Wolverine.  Also some Donkey Kong Country with my good mate Dave, which we have found we’re not too brilliant at, which is kind of unusual because he’s usually so much better than me (maybe it was the handicap of never having played a Super Nintendo before that threw him, or maybe DKs ridiculously high difficulty that did it, I dunno).

I’ve been absolutely snowed under this week and as such I haven’t really done any gaming at all, apart from a few minutes trying to battle through Pendulum songs on Beat Hazard. I did go the Peace Walker launch signings, though, which was awesome.
