Whether you’re catching massive air at the University, pulling off sick grinds Downtown or flipping your board like crazy at the Industrial, Skate 3 is a lot of fun. As with the previous 2 titles it follows your skating career; this time you are starting your own skating company to sells decks. The whole objective of the game is to sell as many decks as possible by doing pretty much anything. You earn deck sales by doing photo and film challenges, races, contests, bailing and all of the above online too.
The gameplay hasn’t changed much from Skate 2. The control scheme is the same with the addition of a few tweaks and some new tricks to add to the realism and fun. Hardcore mode, which is what I’ve been playing on, takes the realism to the next level. Playing on hardcore mode means you have to hit every rail perfectly and flip every trick flawlessly in order to land them; anything else and you will bail. It is pure, unassisted realism at its best. Another mechanic that has had a revamp is the bailing. The different poses that you do in the air make you ‘fly’ differently, most notably the Spread Eagle which now allows you to glide long distances before hitting the ground. You can also launch yourself from the ground with your feet by hitting R2/RT which help make your bails longer, funnier and more painful.
So far Skate 3 has not disappointed but I will be taking a closer look at it and hope to have a full review out soon.

I got this from lovefilm the other day and i have to say, after a weekend of playing it went back to lovefilm. It’s the same game as Skate 2 with a few minor tweeks and some new locations. Hardcore mode is fun but it hasn’t progressed enough for me to not get bored with it in about five minutes. I spent 60+ hours playing skate 2 and don’t want to spend anymore time playing a slightly tweaked version of it. I had high hopes but was sadly dissapointed with this.
